RARE! MUST SEE! Odometer is 65879 This Bright Yellow 1969 Boss 302 has been restored as a period-correct street version of the legendary Trans Am race cars. The restoration was performed by Mustang Club of America Gold Card judge Terry Snyder, who is certified in the MCA's 1969-70 Concours, 1969-71 Boss and Modified classes. Using Ford's Boss 302 Engine and Chassis Modifications books, Snyder followed the recommendations for building a race-ready Boss 302 with vintage performance components from Ford's Muscle Parts program. Notably, the Boss 302 engine is equipped with the unique Cross Boss aluminum intake and Autolite inline 4-barrel carburetor, an induction system designed by Ford for Trans Am racing but banned by the SCCA. Very few were produced and they are rarely seen today. The balanced and blueprinted canted-valve engine is also equipped with high-compression pistons, custom-ground solid-lifter cam, 289 High Performance dual-point distributor and Ford Powertrain Applications tubular headers. Because Ford never offered an air cleaner for the inline 4-barrel, Snyder custom fabricated an oval version from billet aluminum. The Ford-tough drivetrain consists of a close-ratio Toploader 4-speed and 9-inch rear end with 3.91 gears and Traction-Lok differential. Per the Chassis Modification book, the Boss 302's factory Competition Suspension has been upgraded for improved handling by Koni adjustable shock absorbers, lowered A-arms and larger sway bars, while the battery has been relocated to the trunk for improved weight distribution. The 4-wheel disc brakes can be seen through the spokes of the Mini-Lite wheels. The interior is race-car basic with a Sun tachometer, Grant steering wheel, Hurst shifter, custom roll cage and competition shoulder harnesses. Driven only 211 miles since its completion, the Boss 302 has earned a number of accolades, including a MCACN Day 2 (period correct) award, MCA Red Grille Medallion and MCA Pinnacle Award for Modified.
